What is EFA-SL Coalition

The Education for All Coalition -Sierra Leone (EFAC-SL) was formed as part of the efforts in domesticating the Jomtein Declaration and other international conventions relating to the attainment of basic education, particularly the Education For All Goal (EFA Goals) and is a non-political civil society organization. The Coalition is a civil society outfit that seek to promote, campaign, advocate and defend education as a basic human right as enshrine in various international document and treaties. Our core work is to remind government about their commitment to basic education for all, and this is done through research, campaign, advocacy and lobbing policy makers at all levels.
EFAC-SL coalition was established in 2000 as a national coalition of civil society organizations, professional groupings, education/research institutions and other actors in Sierra Leone’s lobby for free, quality and public education for all

Vision -“EFA-SL coalition that is capable of bringing together all members within a decentralized democratic structure nationwide that is accountable to its members.”
Suggestion “A society wherein the right to basic education is just, inclusive and guaranteed for all”

Mission – The Coalition’s; “The EFASL coalition contributes to processes that promote quality learning, inclusive basic education that will ensure access, quality and completion for all by advocating, networking and lobbying with government in pursuit of social justice within the frame work of human right.

Objectives of the EFA-SL Coalition
The coalition Aim and Objectives

1. Increasing awareness and information sharing on the right to education
2. Knowledge management, research and documentation on systems around education that will inform policy particularly for the marginalized and vulnerable groups in Sierra Leone
3. contributing to advocacy and mobilization to advance the right to education and hold states accountable
4. Engage donors and government on emerging policy issues that impact on the provision of quality education for all, particularly basic education
5. To enhance community awareness and ownership of education process, and hold government
6. To provide a platform for engaging in wider educational campaign on education 2030 and SDG 4 processes and campaigns.

Key Priority Areas of EFA-SL

1) Policy Research, documentation and advocacy for quality basic education
2) Institutional capacity building, membership mobilization and the strengthening of partnerships mechanism
3) Advocate and campaign for quality, relevant and inclusive basic education for all education.
